Grand Seiko US Exclusive SBGA507 and SBGA509

Grand Seiko replica watches swiss has released two new models, and as far as I know, this is the first time the brand has released new models since the series of amazing new releases at the "Watches & Wonders" show. Grand Seiko has been restrained this year, which is a wise move considering the slowdown in the overall watch market and to allow time to really digest the new releases at the "Watches & Wonders" show, which involved new movements, amazing dials, and new additions to the existing Evolution 9 series. However, this is about to change with the launch of two new US limited editions, which I will not give a thumbs up considering the restraint shown by the brand. Historically, the US limited editions have always had some of the brand's best dial iterations, and the SBGA507 and SBGA509 continue this trend, introducing new variations on the dials for the first time in 2018. Let's get started.

If you see these two new US releases and wonder why they look familiar, it's because they feature dial textures that the brand has used in previous US limited editions. First used on the SBGA387, the kirazuri pattern is a texture found in Japanese woodblock prints, with mica powder added to create a beautiful shimmering effect. The two new releases, however, come in new colors, a warm rose pink that I really like, and a cooler soft blue. They are inspired by the pink tones of an early morning sunrise (SBGA509) or the cool blue tones of the sky over Lake Suwa transitioning to the darker night sky (SBGA507). The shimmering effect of the kirazuri texture adds a surprising depth to both dials, and definitely plays beautifully with the light. As is now iconic to the brand, the play with light continues on to the case, which features the instantly recognizable sharp angles of the 44GS case. It measures 40mm x 12.5mm x 46.2mm, but that hardly conveys how well this watch will wear. The 44GS is known for its sharp, angular facets that highlight the beauty of the brands Zaratsu polish, especially the wide, sloping fronts of the lugs. This does add size to the watch on the wrist, but it doesnt detract from the wearing experience in my opinion. Both watches are driven by the brands tried-and-true 9R65 movement, which unfortunately also comes with a dial-off power reserve indicator. Despite having a brand-new movement, the brand is committed to using older calibers, and they are usually described by the case shape and reference number. This movement is absolutely reliable and gives you the amazingly smooth swing that is the hallmark of Spring Drive movements.

In essence, these two new pieces are just changes to the dial, but gosh, nobody changes dials like Grand Seiko. The two new dials really look great, and I particularly like the rose-pink hue of the SBGA507. Its a shame that because they look so good, these versions are only available in the United States. Personally, I also really like the overall restraint Grand Seiko has shown this year, which amplifies the charm of each new release, just like these two.
